  • We are looking for you, an ambitious master’s student (m/f), to support our Polyurethanes department by doing an internship project in waste reduction by product mix/product transitions optimization for our location in Terneuzen, the Netherlands.

The Terneuzen Polyurethanes plant is one of the largest plants of its type worldwide with 17 alkoxylation reactors, two worldscale CPP plants and five finishing trains. In our department work approximately 120 people with over ten nationalities.

    Project description
    You will lead the project to improve the product mix of Terneuzen Polyurethanes in order to reduce waste by reducing flush material with the objective to improve sustainability and cut costs. You will be the spill in the web to work with the Run Plant organization, R&D, Supply Chain, Technology Center and Quality to reach this goal. You will have the opportunity to organize several plant trials and have the opportunity to get acquainted with Dow Chemical as one to largest chemical companies in the world.

    During the internship you will be working partly in the plant but also have the possibility to work partly remote.

    Qualifications

    • You are currently studying for a master’s degree or equivalent in chemical engineering.
    • You have a good working knowledge of English. ·
    • Eager to learn, interest in sustainability, delivering innovative solutions, strong interpersonal skills.

    You can start between September and December 2022 for a period of three months (exact timing to be discussed).

  • Dow has an exciting opportunity for one Student (m/f) to work on an Internship on The Portfolio Investments team within the Treasury organization

    Dow’s Portfolio Investment group, located in Horgen Switzerland (Zurich area), manages all European pension assets, develops investment strategies, and implements asset allocation decisions.

    To complement our small and dynamic team we are looking for a full-time student-intern (12 months), currently enrolled in a university and/or eligible to work in Switzerland. This position is available as of November 1st, 2022.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Performing daily cash and collateral management activities
    • Engaging with investment managers on various levels (e.g. processing fees, maintaining communication, etc.)
    • Active participation in financial markets and strategy meetings
    • Writing qualitative investment reports and conducting relevant economic analysis
    • Develop quantitative investment monitoring tools
    • Perform quantitative analysis for the investment portfolios
    • Assist with on-going reporting requirements and
    • Assist with the implementation of regulatory requirements
    • Conduct data-collecting activities
    • Perform ad-hoc analyses and projects

    Successful candidates should have:

    • A keen interest for financial markets
    • Knowledge and familiarity with a broad range of financial asset classes
    • A quantitative and preferably economic and/or financial background
    • Strong writing and communication skills in English
    • Knowledge of one or more programming languages
    • A self driven, passionate, and disciplined work ethic
    • Flexibility and an ability to work on several projects at the same time
    • You are currently studying to obtain a Bachelor/Master degree in Finance or Economics. Other technical degrees/ Master will also be considered.
    • You must be enrolled in a university

  • Research & Development Internship – Cellulose ether for sustainable cements

     

    We are looking for you, an ambitious master’s student (d/f/m), to support our Dow Construction Chemicals business unit by conducting an internship project in 3D printing of cement based Mortars for our location in Seneffe, Belgium.

    The department that will welcome you is the global competence center at Dow Construction Chemicals for additives and binders used as performance ingredients in drymix mortars. The group develops new cellulose ethers, redispersible powders and latex binders for the construction industry. They also carry out practical application-oriented research projects involving Dow Construction Chemicals’ global customer base.

     

    Project description

    In their DCC project an intern develops laboratory scale rheology test methods for 3d cement-based mortars targeting to forecast large scale 3d-printability performance based on lab scale instruments. Design of experiment (DOE) on cellulose ether composition and cement-based mortar formulations will be planed/designed in close cooperation with their supervisor. Following a thorough training on application testing the intern performs wet mortar evaluation (rheology, small scale extrusion, slump test, setting time etc.) and selected formulations will be tested in larger scale printer. The intern will spend time in lab scale test set-up validation using DOE based formulations. The intern have also ample opportunity to improve their working experience through planning own experiments based on initial outcomes of DOE lab experiments.

     

    Qualifications

    • You are currently studying for a masters degree or equivalent in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or related Material Science subjects
    • You have a good working knowledge of English or French.
    • Laboratory skills are a must; ideally obtained from university as well as laboratory assignments in industry or institutional research organizations

     

     

    You can start between January-June 2023 or April – September 2023 for a period of 4-6 months (exact timing is flexible and to be discussed).
